Shane Straiko
Chef Shane Straiko brings decades of international culinary experience and award-winning talent to Straiko’s by the Lake.
His journey began in Tillsonburg, Ontario, where he discovered his passion for cooking at just 16 years old while working in a local golf course kitchen.
Over the years, Chef Shane refined his craft in some of the world’s most respected kitchens and luxury hotels across New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Costa Rica, Vancouver, Toronto, and London, England. He trained under renowned chefs, worked at the iconic Savoy Hotel in London, and served as Executive Sous-Chef at Toronto’s Delta Chelsea Hotel.
Recognized for his creativity and leadership, Chef Shane became a familiar face on Breakfast Television, earned victories in prestigious culinary competitions, and was praised by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto as one of Toronto’s most promising rising chefs.
After seven years as Head Chef aboard Celebrity Cruises, Chef Shane returned to Ontario to open his first restaurant alongside his partner Sharon Sommers. Today, Straiko’s by the Lake combines his global culinary expertise with a passion for fresh ingredients, warm hospitality, and the laid-back charm of Port Burwell’s lakeside community.
At Straiko’s by the Lake, every dish tells part of Chef Shane’s story: inspired by world travel, classic technique, and a love for bringing people together through exceptional food.
